Dr. Rossella Surace, Dr. Vincenzo Bellantone and Dr. Irene Fassi, as guest editors, kindly invite all the interested researchers to actively contribute to the present Special Issue “Advances in Injection Molding: Process, Materials and Applications”. Injection Molding (IM) and its micro counterpart are well-established manufacturing technologies: their exploitation of high-performance materials, such as polymers, metals or composites, and the recent design of components and devices in emerging fields of application have opened up new scenarios. In this viewpoint, the aim of the present SI is to collect scientific contributions on the recent advances in IM and process/materials interactions. In particular, analyses related to the following topics are welcome:

  • the process itself (process parameters influence, optimization, process modeling, simulation, artificial intelligence)
  • materials and novel composites to be used (how their thermal and mechanical properties are modified by the process)
  • characterization of products (metrology, quality control, monitoring)
  • fields of application (component performance with special focus on sustainable and climate-neutral approaches, health-care, communications devices, optical components)
