The fourth edition of the STIIMA-CNR Conference took place in Biella from 29 to 31 January 2025, marking a significant moment for the Institute’s scientific community.
Continuous innovation in the production systems of new materials has finally allowed the installation of the first plant to produce carbon fiber for aircraft construction in our country thanks to a joint project among CNR, Leonardo, Aviorec, and Invitalia.

Aquafil, one of the world’s leading players in the production of synthetic fibers, and CNR-STIIMA developed a standard protocol for measuring the release of microplastics. The standardization project, supported by UNI, was positively received by the CEN TC248 and ISO TC3 textile commissions.
